I sit here and I bow to your far superior knowledge of the world, I accept your understanding of things and that you have seen many happenings that I can only dream about. From your highly elevated platform, please advise upon this question I have............
What is the logic of some people?? I ask this having endured a journey behind a number of people this morning who have shown themselves to be devoid of not only any logic, but also any common sense, common courtesy, manners or intelligence!!!
I only had to drive a few miles, and yet I have been subjected to a seemingly endless stream of mindless idiots, they type who I would not personally let loose with a shopping trolley, but whom have been given a motor car, with a vast amount of power, and told "the grey thing you can see is a road, try to keep the car roughly upon that!!!"
The journey starts with a school run, this is hazardous to begin any day, however throw into the pot a lorry doing strange manoeuvres and some drizzle and parents, mostly women in cars that are so much to large for them the sun visor is behind their heads and they are looking through the steering wheel as they are to short to see over it, and life becomes unbearable!!! Parents will drive into each other rather than let the other pull out of a junction, regardless that they cannot go down the road without letting one out. Parents will block an entire main road in order to open a rear door into the road for no reason other than Little Johnny wants his shoe lace tied!! Parents will NEVER thank another driver for letting them go or through a gap, regardless of how that may have helped. Parents, more often of a feminine persuasion, think that driving a large 4x4 type vehicle gives them a divine right to ignore all other road and pavement users they may come across, or maybe they are just to small to see over the wheel as previously suggested!!!!
I ask you Uncle, where is the sense and logic in this, especially when most of these parents live less than a mile from the school??!!
As a driver of a normal car, with a non-school based appointment to go to I am now frustrated, and not in a calm and relaxed state of mind. When I get to the hospital, and they want to test my blood pressure, how can it not be high??!!
I now come to my next journey, now we are into the time often inhabited by the older statesman of the road. The Skoda driver, the one who passed the driving test when cars were cars, and there were only a few on the roads. The driver who sees the 30 MPH limit as a personal challenge to see how far below this you can travel without having to brake and change gear, these drivers have 1.2L cars doing 60+ MPG, which isn't bad, but apparently in their day they did better!! From what, the horse and cart??A bale of hay gave them 20 miles trotting??!!!
On a dual carriageway, where the speed limit is 70MPH, why must they do 65MPH in the outer lane, why must they then get irate, flash their lights and toot the horn when a "young whipper snapper" like me has to whip up their inside?? I know this is bad, I know it should not be done, but what is safer, me 2 feet behind them or just zipping past them and going?? I vote for the second, if they want to see what the outside is like, fine, but, if I get like this take me outside and shoot me!!!!
My Dear Uncle, you are older than me, you do not drive like this, I do not see a man with a red flag walking in front of your car, I do not see you tolerating this stupidity either!!!
A few years ago I laughed at tales of you getting out of your car to tell another motorist "the facts of life", I can actually see why now!! Was it an older person, or a school drop off/collection driver??
And as for Taxi's or Cars for Hire, as some like to be called, I really do not want to get started here, but, just to say an awful lot seem to think they are still herding goats or something and the same principles can be applied to driving the car.....................
I have to turn to you Uncle to put some Logic into this as to me it just seems beyond belief!!
Your beloved
Nephew
